About LBAR

The Long Beach AIDS Ride (LBAR) is a fundraising event produced by, and benefitting The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach (The Center) and The Comprehensive AIDS Resource and Education (CARE) program at St. Mary Medical Center. The event is designed to support local Long Beach efforts in the areas of education, prevention and treatment of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and related illnesses. LBAR is also a platform to increase positive, life-affirming experiences for people affected and infected by HIV and to encourage activism in the Greater Long Beach community.

Where does your contribution go?

The Center and The C.A.R.E. Program are committed to providing cutting edge HIV/AIDS care to the Greater Long Beach community. We each strive towards advocating for key groups affected and provide support to those infected by HIV.

The money we raise with LBAR will support The Center in upgrading its HIV testing lab, provide outreach materials for the Prevention Outreach Program (POP!) and support free mental health Services for clients in crisis. The C.A.R.E. Program continues to provide medical care, treatment, case management and access to support groups and services. Fundraising in 2015 will help grow these programs and services plus give us the chance to create and develop programs like:

• School Outreach Programs

• STD Testing and Treatment

• Newly Diagnosed Support Groups

• New HIV Treatment Options

• Mobile HIV Testing

• Mobile Medical Care Programs
